Apologies for not updating this blog more frequently but essay deadlines were looming this week. Now I have finished with the lame excuses here are some links.Truffle Shuffle sells 80's Tees including Rainbow brite, thundercats, sesame street and Top Gun t-shirts! For other t-shirts with a retro feel as well as jeans, skirts, dresses and jackets go to Cult clothing. They aren't just a virtual shop but have real browsable stores. Love wandering around listening to the excessively loud music which is always...interesting.

I often forget about including links for gorgeous vegan men therefore, as well as the links above Bourgeois Boheme have quite a few new mens shoes. They also sell manbags, wallets and vegan friendly beauty products that men can use too. Yes, you can use cleanser and moisturiser too. No it's not "girly".

I must confess that there will be some interruption to this blog next month. I have more assignment deadlines, revision for exams AND I will be moving house. Prepare for chaos and occasional mutterings of diseases...

23rd April 2006

An assortment of links today. Pennangalan Dreams: touted as gothic and fetish boots but basically if you want boots with buckles and soles that are a foot thick then this is the place for you. The boots shown are the leather ones but you can opt to have a synthetic leather boot instead. Green shoes sells a very different type of shoe. Again with this company they make the range in both leather and synthetic leather so neither are strictly vegan companies. These two shoe companies couldn't be more different with Pennangalan selling boots which feet were probably never created for and earth shoes being like a second skin. Still I cater for all tastes!

If you live in the US then downBound.com is the place to go for natural vegan shoes, boots and sandals. They are all made of hemp and are proudly 'sweatshop free.' Also in the US is Queen Bee Creations selling bags, purses and music. Everything is leather free, handmade and they also have a great kids section called Chickpea which has some of the cutest little t-shirts I have seen.

Finally, due to today being the London Marathon (and I am watching it out the corner of my eye) I thought I should add links to running shoes! Therefore for leather free sports shoes go to Ethical Wares in the UK and Moo shoes in the US. Or go into your local sports shop and check out what they have. I always end up buying New Balance and choose ones that have been made in the UK. This doesn't mean I run in them though! For updates on todays Marathon go HERE!

I have to add this into todays entry. The author of Vegan with a Vengeance is bringing out a vegan cupcake cookbook!! Am I the only one almost hyperventilating at the thought? If that wasn't enough she has posted up pictures of all the cupcakes on her blog. Lookee HERE!! mmmmmmmmmmm. Talking of Vegan with a vengeance. I WANT IT! I've had the opportunity to browse through it at a friends house and it is full of anecdotes as well as recipes. I LIKE anecdotes in cookbooks and I really feel that all cookbooks should contain them. But then, I take my cookbooks to bed and read them like they are some sort of food porn imagining exactly what it would be like to have that recipe on my plate right now.

Ok so the featured computer game to the left isn't entirely related to anything else in this blog... or is it? I really enjoy computer games but I do question the amount of hacking and blood loss that most of them contain but I have found the solution! Guitar Hero!! The control panel is a large guitar with different colours on the fret board and a place to strum so rather than sticking swords into the enemy this games purpose is to attain the goal of Guitar Hero. Levels vary from easy to devilishly hard and it is addictive! There is no swearing in any of the rock songs and they vary from 80's cheese to modern day rock anthems. Naturally to accompany this i have a well chosen outfit incorporating drainpipe skin tight jeans in stonewash (only kidding!!), a black and grey striped long t-shirt and steel toed boots (although I should point out I got mine years ago on a vegetarain shoes sale). If I could I would also be wearing one of the new Moto jackets from vegetarian shoes. Rock on!

15th April 2006

How can it be the 15th!! Lack of an update is as a result of a home computer war. We have two computers and one internet connection. Apparently a blog "about shoes" doesn't rate high enough to have internet access while research for assignments is required. Don't understand that myself but here we go...

A link that isn't related to shoes or bags. This time it's food! Have been waiting for Animal aid to bring out this leaflet for a few months now and FINALLY they have. Download the PDF 'I can't believe it's Vegan!' and look at that strawberry trifle! More a leaflet for new vegans or anyone thinking about it but it has recipes and more importantly sweet ones.

Back to bags. So far I have found Matt and Nats Jorja Fox bag (available from Bourjois boheme) in Heat magazine and Barry M's pink glitter dust and lip gloss in NOW! magazine. I think it's important that magazines that the masses read include cruelty free products I just wish they made a big deal about them! (Just a brief disclaimer here: I don't actually BUY these magazines they just so happen to be at work and they fall into my hands during my lunch hour...although sometimes they fall into my hand in the Newsagents too... its research ok!)

Beyond Skin do the most beautiful shoes and boots(look left). They are all hand made to order and they offer a huge range of colours, fabrics and materials to choose from. The only down side is the price but they are truly gorgeous vegan shoes!(perhaps I can justify a pair to go to a very best friends wedding...hmmmm) I also want to know where the models of the new collection got their skirts! Will see if I can find out.

Today I also want to mention Duprey cosmetics. I mentioned them last month but I am currently LOVING my 5th avenue lipslick and bourbon street Cheek stick. The lipslick I either apply straight on, adding just a tint to my lips for work and really slicking it on when I go out, or I apply loads of lip balm (currently using Lush's Lip lime as it is moisturising and glossy) and then apply the lipslik on top for super shiny lips. The cheek stick gives such a healthy glow and blends in well so that for once I don't look like Barbara Cartland. It makes me look so healthy! (I should realy say that it ENHANCES my already healthy glow and good health that I have achieved through my healthy and cruelty free vegan diet !) Duprey is only available through the Vegetarian and Vegan Foundation and at the moment they only have some of the lipslick, blusher and the skin glow (next on my hit list). I have already contacted them to persuade them to stock more so if you buy, try and like please bombard them with emails.

8th April 2006

I may seem procupied with bags and shoes at the moment but really there are good reasons for both. As far as shoes are concerned I am looking for a pair of work shoes which are comfortable enough to stand about in all day but look good with any outfit outwith work too. The bag must be large enough to carry around a diagnostic kit but isn't dull and is equally at home when full of receipts, lip gloss and waterproof trousers (some current contents of my bag!). So far Matt and Nats large Buddha bag (in fushia or light blue, I'm undecided) is a contender but the perfect shoes I am yet to find. On the up side my trawling of the internet has found some amazing wedge shoes from Debenhams. The ones on the left are £45 and these are £40.

Putting my own shopping requirements aside for a moment I discovered that Vegetarian shoes do a great deal on totally unique one off shoes. These include show shoes, end of line shoes and one offs. Worth a look for some bargain shoes.

Also today Information for those who have no idea why I want to wear Vegan friendly fashion. Animal Aid have this page explaining a little about the cruelty behind the fashion industry.

Now to return to my quest for the perfect work shoes: Black or brown, small chunky heel or no heel, must look good with trousers, skirts and jeans but crucially they must be comfortable to stand in, walk in and run up and down stairs in. If you know of a pair like these please Contact Me

4th April 2006

Easter is approaching and I haven't mentioned chocolate! Something is clearly wrong with that so to rectify this go to the Vegan Family Houses easter page .

See yourself as a fashion designer with compassion? If so this design a t-shirt competition from bourgeois boheme is for you. Design a summer tee and see it worn by the masses! Open to all.

1st April 2006

First up for this month is Vegan Steven's vegan clothes by Benjamin zephaniah. It's taken from The Little Book of Vegan Poems which also contains my favourite Talking Turkey's.

Have also found vegan baby shoes (and other assorted baby products) from Kidbean . Remember it is NEVER too early to start that shoe addiction!
